About MBFSED

Empowering Communities, Transforming Lives

The Mustafa Bello Foundation for Small Enterprise Development (MBFSED) was conceived and Incorporated in the year 2000 as a Non-Governmental, wholly Private Sector Oriented, Organization (NGO) to provide Business Development Services (BDS), Technical and Financial Assistance to the low income, economically active, rural poor population for Small Scale Enterprise (SSE) development and drive the Financial Inclusion Program of Government to the rural poor and the under-served.

MBFSED initial operational base is in Niger State, with its office headquarters located in Minna, the State Capital while its pilot program started in Kontagora the home town of the Founder, Mustafa Bello, Engr., FNSE. It planned to grow its schemes organically within the State (Niger State) spreading into States contiguous to Niger State as a deliberate policy of achieving significant out-reach to the rural communities. This mode of spread will ultimately reach as many States of the Country as possible.

MBFSED plans to establish Local Government Area offices throughout the State (Niger State) to coordinate and deliver Business Development Services (BDS), Technical and Financial Assistance Services (TFAS) through access to Islamic Finance mode of Credit as Business Startup or Sustainability Capital as well as provide capacity building. This program has already been launched in Kontagora since year 2022 and is progressing well.

MBFSED has evolved, through an initial Support Capital provided by the Founder, Resource Management schemes that will create stable revolving and slowly growing fund for on-lending to “Clusters” that have productive and income generating activities as rural or semi-urban entrepreneurs that is further protected by Group (Cluster) self-guarantees, group Insurance, etc. MBFSED intends to encourage participants in the “Cluster” or such other Products within the scope of Services and Support extended by the Foundation to operate a Savings Scheme (SS) of the excess benefits resulting from the Capacity Scale Up (CSU) or the BDS/TFAS in collaboration with local branches of Micro-Finance Banks.
